For our February blog, in honour of Valentines’ Day, we’ve scouted out the best places in Helston to take your loved one. We’ve gone for some date night classics, as well as a selection with a more unusual twist.

Why not mix and match your favourites from the list and plan a whole day of sharing and having fun together?

Picnic in the park

Wrap up warm, pack a picnic and enjoy a walk around Coronation Park or stride out towards the sea at Penrose, stopping for a romantic make-your-own meal along the way.

One for the culture-vultures this converted school, which houses a selection of artists studios, has a programme of events, screenings as well as regular Feast nights and a full daytime menu at the café.

Catch a flick

If you’re more traditional about dates then the cinema is a classic place to get together. Hold hands over a romantic flick or laugh together at a comedy at Merlin cinemas. Their licence even means you can treat yourself to a glass of wine while you watch.

Make a date with the past

For a date with a difference, explore the treasure trove of memories and curiosities that is the Museums of Cornish Life. Uncover stories and feast your eyes on objects from Helston and Cornwall’s past, then discuss your favourites over a cuppa in the honesty café.

Go stargazing

With 360 degree views and minimal light pollution,Godolphin Hill, just outside Helston, is renowned as one of the best places in the South West to gaze up at the stars… It’s a pretty nifty spot for a daytime ramble with a view, too.
