SUMMARY:Exhibition: Haunted Cornwall
DESCRIPTION:Cornwall boasts a long folkloric tradition – From old tales of giants and fairies to accounts of elusive ghosts and Cornish knockers. Although quieted by the rise of Methodism\, these stories resurfaced during the Victorian Gothic revival\, and Cornwall once again emerged from the mist as a place of hauntings.  \nExploring these themes\, this exhibition takes a look at Cornwall\, its land and its people\, and asks the question…What makes Cornwall appear so haunted? \nChildren (and adults!) can also take part in one of our Haunted Cornwall activities\, include a word search and a ‘Spot the Ghost’ challenge. Additionally\, there will be a talk related to the exhibit – What Makes a Good Cornish Ghost Story – taking place at the museum on October 29 at 2pm.

Enjoy apple pressing in the Cider House\, get crafting\, do some apple collecting in the Orchard\, make muddy apple pies in the Mud-Pie kitchen\, and more! All activities are included in normal admission\, and there is no need to pre-book. Apple pressing is on from 11am-3pm on the following dates: Sunday 27 October Monday 28 October Thursday 31 October Friday 1 November. Please note: apple pressing is subject to volunteer availability. DESCRIPTION:Candlelit Concert Will Keating & guests Helston Old Chapel 7.30pm 28th October 2024​​“Cornish songs delivered with passion and presence\, honesty and integrity.” ~ Harry Glasson Due to popular demand\, Will Keating will be embarking on another Winter Candlelit Concert Tour this winter! The multi-award winning Will Keating\, who is also one of the members of popular Cornish male singing group The Oggymen\, has wowed audiences far and wide since embarking on a solo career. Two sold-out headline performances at the Iconic Minack Theatre\, cemented Wills reputation as one of Cornwall’s stand-out performers. Flexible Ticket Prices for Performances We understand things are challenging for many people.​To try and make the work that Trevow Helston programmes as accessible as possible we are offering three ticket prices for the show and a free ticket draw. Please book the ticket that reflects what you can afford right now. You won’t be asked any questions and your ticket options won’t be shared with anyone.​£15 Supporter Show Ticket This ticket includes a donation to support Trevow Helston’s work​​£10 Just a Show Ticket This ticket covers our core costs of the event​​£7 Helping You Show Ticket If you can only afford this ticket right now we all understand​£0 Show Ticket Draw If you cannot afford a ticket right now please enter our free ticket draw. Trevow Helston will give away as many tickets as we are able to and we will inform you if you have won tickets a minimum of three days before the event. To enter the ticket draw please click here. What do I need to know?​This event will take place at the Helston Old Chapel\, Meneage Road\, Helston\, TR13 8BH. There is a large pay and display car park opposite the Helston Medical Centre\, Trelawney Rd\, Helston TR13 8AU. This is a 5-10 minute walk away. It is possible to drop-off and pick-up immediately outside the chapel building.​There is level access from the tarmac path into the side door of the chapel. There is space inside the chapel for wheelchairs. The seating will be on pews. If we can support you at our event in other ways please contact us on hello@trevowhelston.co.uk A small pop-up bar will be available at this event. Card payments only.​We currently have limited facilities at our new venue. Please be aware that we will be using an accessible portaloo for this event.​​Due to the nature of the production\, latecomers cannot be admitted.​We estimate a run time of approximately 120 minutes plus interval. Our performances may be filmed or photographed and the material may be used by Trevow Helston\, its sister company Cousin Jack’s or the performance company at any time for evaluation\, promotion or other projects. Please be aware that it is the ticket buyer’s responsibility to inform members of their party that this will be happening. Tickets are non-refundable.
