SUMMARY:Exhibition | Siticulosa | Maeve Brennan
DESCRIPTION:Set in the Apulia region of southern Italy\, Siticulosa\, 2025 (45min) is part of an ongoing body of work by artist Maeve Brennan\, which focuses on the global trade in illicit antiquities. The film unfolds through a series of interviews with individuals including a biodynamic farmer\, an art historian and a forensic archaeologist\, each with a distinct relationship to the land and the objects buried within it. \nIt traverses a parched landscape of caves and looted tombs\, evoking a consideration of the relationship between archaeology\, geology and ecology. Siticulosa is a study of a territory\, its past and present\, and the people who inhabit it. \nMaeve Brennan is a London-based artist and filmmaker whose practice explores the social\, historical and political resonance of material and place. Brennan was awarded the prestigious Paul Hamlyn Award for Artists in 2025 and is the recipient of the FLAMIN Production Award 2025 for her project DEEP STORAGE. DESCRIPTION:A one-off session allowing you to have a go on the wheel and learn to pinch and coil your first pots! Perfect for beginners\, families\, as a gift\, or a refresher and introduction to the studio if you’ve done a bit before. \n£50 includes tuition\, equipment\, materials and firing of 3 pieces. \nFor 18 years and over. \nWhat to bring? All tools and materials will be provided. Wearing old clothes that can get mucky is advisable and please bring an apron. \nCollection: Ceramic work will be ready 6 weeks after the final workshop to allow time for pieces to be dried\, fired\, and glazed. Pots can be collected from the studio at CAST during Open Access Sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings 5:30pm – 8:30pm and Friday afternoons 1:30pm – 4:30pm. \n  \nMinimum attendees 4.  If we do not reach this number we may need to cancel the class\, in which case you will be notified and refunded three weeks before the start date.

DESCRIPTION:Ane Hjort Guttu’s film Manifesto\, 2020\, (27 min) speculates on the aims and purposes of institutional art education. Newly migrated into a university and an open-plan campus building\, an art school feels cornered by a suffocating culture of surveillance and administration. Staff and students find ways to subvert control through secret operations. Drawing on her own experiences as an art teacher\, Ane Hjort Guttu explores what is lost when creativity is replaced by order and provides action plans for how to be the playful rebel. \nAne Hjort Guttu is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Oslo. She works across a range of media\, with a particular focus on text and moving images. Her practice explores the relationship between freedom and power\, how we navigate public space\, individual autonomy\, and the social\, economic\, and political conditions of art. \nFrom 13 to 20 March 2026 Ane Hjort Guttu will be leading the eighth Cornwall Workshop\, a weeklong intensive residential workshop for artists\, curators and writers based in Cornwall and the South West. The workshop is organised by CAST and hosted at Kestle Barton on the Lizard peninsula.

DESCRIPTION:The Soil Circus is a textile art exhibition by artist Maya Roncetti on display at The Stables Gallery. Inspired by natural dyes found across the Lizard Peninsula\, the work explores colour\, material and the close relationship between art and landscape. \nMaya is a textiles and installation artist whose work explores the many ways people have connected with nature in the UK\, drawing on cultural\, historical and traditional stories\, as well as more complex relationships with the natural world. SUMMARY:CAST Saturday Art Club
DESCRIPTION:CAST’s Saturday art sessions for eleven- to sixteen-year-olds are structured around engagement with a wide range of artists\, many of whom have studios at or close links with CAST. \nLed by artist and learning specialist Kate Turner\, Saturday Art Club members meet in a studio at CAST each week to work with artists\, learn new skills\, develop a wide range of projects\, and explore their creativity. Due to growing demand for places the Saturday Art Club now has two groups\, one meeting in the mornings from 10.30am to 1pm to and the other meeting in the afternoons from 2pm to 4.30pm. \nAll sessions are free with materials provided. \nTo join the Saturday Club or find out more please contact kate@castcornwall.art. \nThe Saturday Art Club began in May 2021 with a pilot programme of six art sessions\, thanks to support from the Garcia Family Foundation. These initial sessions ran from May to July and proved so successful that a second pilot was run in September and October 2021. By November 2021\, funding from Arts Council England was secured to allow the program to continue through the summer of 2022. DESCRIPTION:Under the guidance of our tutors\, this course runs once a week for two and half hours over a 7 week period with no class between week 5 and 6 to allow for the bisque firing of work ready to be glazed on the final session.
