SUMMARY:Squashbox: Curious Creatures
DESCRIPTION:Supported by Lakeside Cafe\nSaturday 13th June | 2.30pm\nFREE EVENT\nWelcome to the Curious Creatures wildlife park! World-renowned explorer Jeremiah Johnson has handed the running of his animal collection over to his inexperienced nephew Craig… and things don’t quite go as planned. \nExpect performing fleas\, skateboarding snails\, gymnastic gerbils\, irritable alligators\, over-excited elephants\, and a very intelligent orang-utan – all brought to life through Craig Johnson’s brilliant puppetry\, storytelling\, comedy and live music. You’ll learn amazing facts about how animals evolved and how their adaptations help them survive in the wild. After all\, we’re all related if you go back far enough! \nSquashbox Theatre’s shows are a much-loved fixture of the Coronation Park summer programme. A former member of Cornwall’s renowned Kneehigh Theatre\, Craig combines natural history\, slapstick and a gently subversive sense of humour that delights adults just as much as children. Don’t miss one of Cornwall’s finest one-man puppet shows! \nSupport free events at Coronation Park \nThis year\, over 60% of our events at Coronation Park are completely free. We do this because we believe that everyone in Helston and on The Lizard deserves access to brilliant events — regardless of what’s in their pocket. The South Kerrier Alliance CIC is a not-for-profit organisation and we don’t receive any regular public funding. Every free event we put on is only possible because of the support of people like you. If days like this matter to you and your community\, please consider making a donation here.

SUMMARY:Troubled Waters
DESCRIPTION:Contemporary retellings of ancient river legend\, folklore & myth. We welcome Corinne back to the chapel following her performance of Tam Lin Retold in 2023\, for her unique storytelling and live music at Trevow Chapel. \n\n\n“For a spellbinding hour\, Corinne took us deep into the realm of story\, rekindling our imaginations\, stretching open our ears and touching our hearts. The tales she told were wild and tender\, fierce and outlandish\, and soulful without ever being sentimental. And they did what all good stories do — return you to the world again\, with all its big and strange marvels.” ~ Dr. Michael Milay\, Lecturer in English and Environmental Humanities at the University of Bristol.\n\n\nWith over 4\,000 miles of polluted waterways\, Britain and Ireland’s rivers are in ruin. This vibrant new tapestry of transporting tales winds through stories that have shaped our relationship with rivers\, the lifeblood of our landscape. \n\n\n“Delicious\, captivating\, funny\, sexy\, and brilliant!” “Cheeky\, moving\, and well-paced” “A beautiful journey that blends traditional storytelling with modern language” “Vivid\, Captivating and Sassy”\n\n\nLeaping salmon\, fishtail women\, mythical raves & sacred springs… These enchanting and surprising tales present characters who question what is set in stone and find their own flow. \nWith each meandering stream and rushing river\, we dip our toes into vital waters and ask what new connections are found when we look with fresh eyes beneath the surface?
