DESCRIPTION:This presentation of two short films\, made some twenty years apart\, offers a window into the creative processes of celebrated South African artist William Kentridge.  \nJourney to the Moon (2003) is a playful response to the 1902 Georges Méliès film Le Voyage dans la Lune. It follows Kentridge (and his coffee cup) from the studio into his own drawn world. His new film Fugitive Words (2024)\, which will have its first UK presentation at CAST\, unfolds entirely within the pages of one of Kentridge’s notebooks. We do ask for £2 for the session to help cover the costs\, including our community paints.\nIn the afternoon we have our Beginner’s Pokémon TCG Session – this is perfect for anyone wanting to learn the game\, hone their deck building skills or perfect their battling technique. The session is £4 for 2 hours of Poke-fun!\n\nFinally\, this evening our Play! Pokemon TCG evening and our Lorcana evening return! Whilst these are official organised play evenings\, you are more than welcome to attend if you are a beginner player of either of these games – both communities are warm\, friendly and welcoming\, with players more than happy to help out those who are starting on their journey. And Rose is trying to decipher the messages of the sprites.  \nWhat happened at the standing stone? Who is the boy caught in the betwixt and the between? And why is Rose\, of all people\, on this journey?  \nTamara Rosenwyn’s play reveals that the power of our imagination is timeless\, and that with inner grit\, time and a deep dig into the soul\, pearls of wisdom can be formed! \nPerfect for age 11+ \nAbout the playwright: Tamara Rosenwyn is a Cornish playwright from The Lizard\, known for her magical-realism plays which explore modern cultural issues interwoven with Cornwall’s heritage and folklore.

DESCRIPTION:Roll the Dice Cornwall C.I.C. are delighted to be able to announce our second expo!\nThe South West Cornwall Games Expo will this year be held during the summer at the Light and Life Centre in Helston.\nOne of the key pieces of feedback that we had about our debut expo was that of accessibility. In repsonse to this we have moved venues to the Light and Life centre – a larger venue all on one floor\, with parking on site.\nWe are currently in the process of inviting vendors\, and are also welcoming any applications to vendor too.\nAs with our previous expo\, the mission behind this event is to bring together businesses\, individuals\, groups\, organisations\, creators and anyone who works with in-person gaming. To this end\, we are asking very competitive rates for vendors and we will be keeping the event free for the public to come and visit.\nThere will be 3 areas to this year’s expo:– The open gaming hall. Here we will have our board game library\, along with some game demos\, for anyone to come and try out.– The main hall. Here you will find our wonderful vendors who represent a wide range of businesses\, groups and organisations who represent facets of in-person gaming.– The foyer. Here you will find Roll the Dice’s stall\, and\, more importantly\, information on the event and on RtD’s mission to improve social\, emotional and mental health through in-person gaming.\nA full list of vendors confirmed will be forthcoming!

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun filled day to explore and find out more about being an archaeologist and some of the ancient parts of our landscape. \nFrom 11am  – 3pm there will be opportunities for young people and adults to participate in a range of activities including metal detecting\, coin rubbing and henge making. These activities will run throughout the day\, places available on a first come first served basis. \nYou can also explore our new\, self-guided archaeology trail through the museum. There will also be free worksheets for all age to fill in plus a map to take home of local archaeological/historic sites around Helston. \nThis event is part of the country wide Festival of Archaeology
