That’s enough to support nearly 96\,000 honeybees per day. \n97% of species-rich grassland has been lost in the UK since the 1930s\, with the remaining 3% mostly fragmented across the country\, leaving little room for wildlife to spread. \nExplore how the National Trust and partners are tackling these issues\, through the Coastal Meadows project and the Lizard Rarities Project\, in this photography exhibition.

DESCRIPTION:The aim of the course is to come away with a well fitted dress block (a basic dress pattern with fitted bodice\, pencil skirt and fitted sleeve). Having your own block is so useful and essential for making new patterns at home. \nPlease note\, we will not be drafting the block from scratch\, we will be amending a block to fit you. We will start by taking measurements and amending the pattern where possible first. Then you will make a toile of the dress in calico to fit. You will have a couple of fittings\, as we refine the fit of the garment in stages. These fitting techniques can be applied to any dress/top pattern that you use in future!

DESCRIPTION:Ane Hjort Guttu’s film Manifesto\, 2020\, (27 min) speculates on the aims and purposes of institutional art education. Newly migrated into a university and an open-plan campus building\, an art school feels cornered by a suffocating culture of surveillance and administration. Staff and students find ways to subvert control through secret operations. Drawing on her own experiences as an art teacher\, Ane Hjort Guttu explores what is lost when creativity is replaced by order and provides action plans for how to be the playful rebel. \nAne Hjort Guttu is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Oslo. She works across a range of media\, with a particular focus on text and moving images. Her practice explores the relationship between freedom and power\, how we navigate public space\, individual autonomy\, and the social\, economic\, and political conditions of art. \nFrom 13 to 20 March 2026 Ane Hjort Guttu will be leading the eighth Cornwall Workshop\, a weeklong intensive residential workshop for artists\, curators and writers based in Cornwall and the South West. The workshop is organised by CAST and hosted at Kestle Barton on the Lizard peninsula.

We will be drafting the block from scratch from your measurements\, so please wear leggings so that we can get accurate measurements before we start. After we have drafted the block and added seam allowance\, we will make up a quick toile in calico to check the fit\, before making any adjustments on the pattern. Please note you will not have a finished pair of trousers to take home\, you will have a calico toile and pattern block. From your block you can then make pattern design alterations\, such as adding pockets\, adding a waistband or waist facing\, seam lines etc at home.

DESCRIPTION:4 week handbuilding course with Rosa Lily James \nOver four weeks\, attendees will work with ceramic artist Rosa Lily James with a focus on using hand building and surface decorating techniques to create one large pot each. \nYou will learn pinch\, coil and slab roll techniques. \nThis course will run once a week for two and half hours over a 4 week period; works will be bisque and glaze fired in our studio glaze before being available for collection from the studio. \nEach attendee will have up to 5 pots fired. \nWhat to bring? Please bring your own apron and towel to each session. All tools and materials will be provided. Wearing old clothes that can get mucky is advisable. \nCollection: Ceramic work will be ready 6 weeks after the final workshop to allow time for pieces to be glazed and fired. DESCRIPTION:Ane Hjort Guttu’s film Manifesto\, 2020\, (27 min) speculates on the aims and purposes of institutional art education. Newly migrated into a university and an open-plan campus building\, an art school feels cornered by a suffocating culture of surveillance and administration. Staff and students find ways to subvert control through secret operations. Drawing on her own experiences as an art teacher\, Ane Hjort Guttu explores what is lost when creativity is replaced by order and provides action plans for how to be the playful rebel. \nAne Hjort Guttu is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Oslo. She works across a range of media\, with a particular focus on text and moving images. Her practice explores the relationship between freedom and power\, how we navigate public space\, individual autonomy\, and the social\, economic\, and political conditions of art. \nFrom 13 to 20 March 2026 Ane Hjort Guttu will be leading the eighth Cornwall Workshop\, a weeklong intensive residential workshop for artists\, curators and writers based in Cornwall and the South West. The workshop is organised by CAST and hosted at Kestle Barton on the Lizard peninsula.

This is where you will the learn things that help you work as a band member\, not just a musician —how to actually run a show\, sound professional\, and perform like the bands you see on stage. These are the skills that all band members / performers need to have regardless of what instrument you play\, the more you know the easier it becomes and the better your band sounds. \nAlready jamming with friends and got 5-6 songs ready? Perfect. You’re exactly who we’re looking for. \nWhat Makes Us Different? \n✓ Learn by doing— by the last session you’ll be running the whole show! \n✓ Work with 3-4 other bands/artists just like yours\n✓ Get your hands on pro equipment and learn how it all works\n✓ Master stage setup\, sound mixing\, lighting\, and performance skills\n✓ End with a real Saturday night concert YOU all run\n✓ Small group sizes (4-6 members per band with 3-4 bands total) \nPROGRAM OVERVIEW \nYour 4-Week Journey: \nWeek 1: Build Your Stage  \nSaturday  10.30am-2.30pm \nStart with an empty stage and learn how to set up everything from scratch. You’ll position amps\, run cables safely\, set up a simple vocal PA\, and get monitors working. \nWhat You’ll Do:\n– Equipment setup and positioning\n– Cable management and safety\n– Basic sound mixing of PA and backline amps\n– 30-minute set rehearsed per band with performance advice / suggestions\n– Learn volume balance (drummers and guitarists\, we’re looking at you!)\n– Effective band communication \nWhile others play\, you’ll run lights\, adjust sound\, and learn what makes a band go from good to great! \nWeek 2: Go Pro  \nSaturday 10.30am-2.30pm \nTime for the full gig setup. Main PA system\, full monitor mixes\, drum mics\, the works. Learn the difference between digital and analog mixers\, and get hands-on with iPad controls. Dial in your tone quickly. \nWhat You’ll Do:\n– Full PA and monitor setup\n– Create your bands Stage Plot\n– Mic placement techniques\n– Proper soundcheck procedures\n– Digital mixer operation\n– Mix each other’s bands \nPlus\, you’ll finally learn how to coil cables properly!!!!! \nWeek 3: Show Time Prep \nSaturday 10.30-2.30pm \nFull show rehearsal mode. Quick changeovers\, stage management\, lighting operation\, and learning how to talk to the audience with confidence. \nWhat You’ll Do: \n– Stage management skills\n– Quick setup and changeovers\n– Lighting operation\n– How to MC/compare properly\n– Monitor mixing on the fly\n– Create an interval music playlist \nDo it all; Everyone rotates through different roles—you’ll understand the whole production. \n— \nWeek 4: YOUR Concert \nSaturday (4pm-9pm) \nThis is it. A real show with a real audience. You’ll run everything—from sound to lights to stage management—AND perform your act. It’s going to be hectic\, nerve wracking\, but ultimately memorable and fun.
