SUMMARY:Theatre: Samson & Delilah
DESCRIPTION:Touring from Mousehole to St Mawes this September! The Killigrew’s are up to their usual devious ways in Falmouth and Queen Elizabeth is not at all happy. Sir Francis Godolphin is fighting the Spanish in Penzance and is not at all happy. Blissfully unaware and occasionally happy\, the Tudor players of Penryn are staging ‘Samson & Delilah.’ ‘Samson and Delilah’ is a fun\, historical drama set during the backdrop of the Spanish Armada. The tour travels along Cornish coastal communities – from Mousehole to Penryn – where the Cornish and Spanish finally meet. Two worlds are about to collide both on and off the stage! The tour plays at a variety of Cornish venues\, both indoor and outdoor\, giving greater relevance and meaning to our harbours\, villages\, castles\, beacons and abandoned ruins. We want to connect our communities along the Armada route! Samson & Delilah has received £47\,360 from Cornwall Council’s Community Levelling Up Programme\, part of the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund. The project has only been made possible thanks to this funding alongside funding from FEAST Cornwall and Carn to Cove. This means that Collective Arts has been able to keep ticket prices relatively low so that lots of people can come along and enjoy a good night out at the theatre. Recommended for audiences 8+

SUMMARY:Theatre: The Chronicles of Atom & Luna
DESCRIPTION:The Chronicles of Atom & Luna\nby Funnelwick Limb\n7pm 18th September\n\n\nBook now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn epic fairytale by Murray Lachlan Young. \n“Three generations of ladies in the front row\, we were all mesmerised and I was in tears. Just beautiful. Thrilling to show my daughter real theatre.”\n ~ Audience Comment \nAtom and Luna are twins. They never break any rules and never\, ever go into the deep dark wood. But these are no ordinary twins. Trouble is\, only the birds and the moon know just how special they are… When life takes an unexpected turn all rules are turned upside down. Atom and Luna must venture into the deep\, dark wood to find Old Mother Redbeard and to save their larger-than-life visitor\, Iffly Sney. \n“This mysterious and thoughtful fable carries its watchers deep into a tangled tale of fairies\, woodsmen\, wolves and witchcraft. Lachlan Young’s script\, which mixes dramatic action with story telling is an absolute delight.”\n ~ Arts City Liverpool ★★★★

SUMMARY:Talk: Conserving the History of Making
DESCRIPTION:Meet accredited museum conservator Helena Jaeschke of Museum Development South West\, who will discuss how museums conserve historic objects related to making\, from the leather used by cobblers to wooden farming tools and blacksmith’s ironwork. \nShe will talk about what museums and collectors can do to protect artefacts from damp\, mould\, too much light and pests like woodworm and moths\, and show you how to recognise the signs of damage. Come and see a demonstration of how to clean and repair objects that have suffered\, and bring your own questions and small historic artefacts for advice on what you can do to protect them. You can book through Eventbrite. \nAll welcome [no woodworm and moths permitted] \nThis talk is part of Helston Makes It!\, our week-long annual celebration of makers and craft. This year\, the festival celebrates the trades and crafts on display in our Meat Market\, such as glove making\, serpentine turning and woodwork.
