The walk is approximately 2 miles and led by volunteer walk leaders\, offering the opportunity for fresh air and time in nature. Everyone welcome of all walking experience. \nSuitability\nChildren welcome with adult supervision. \nMeeting point\nMeet at National Trust Lizard Point car park (near the lighthouse) TR12 7NT. Parking charges apply\, free for NT members. \nWhat to bring and wear\nPlease come in sturdy footwear and bring some waterproofs in case of showers. Please bring a drink/snack. \nAccessibility\nThe route follows sections along the South West Coast Path\, including uneven ground\, steps and stiles. \nOther\nDogs welcome on leads.

DESCRIPTION:Ane Hjort Guttu’s film Manifesto\, 2020\, (27 min) speculates on the aims and purposes of institutional art education. Newly migrated into a university and an open-plan campus building\, an art school feels cornered by a suffocating culture of surveillance and administration. Staff and students find ways to subvert control through secret operations. Drawing on her own experiences as an art teacher\, Ane Hjort Guttu explores what is lost when creativity is replaced by order and provides action plans for how to be the playful rebel. \nAne Hjort Guttu is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Oslo. She works across a range of media\, with a particular focus on text and moving images. Her practice explores the relationship between freedom and power\, how we navigate public space\, individual autonomy\, and the social\, economic\, and political conditions of art. \nFrom 13 to 20 March 2026 Ane Hjort Guttu will be leading the eighth Cornwall Workshop\, a weeklong intensive residential workshop for artists\, curators and writers based in Cornwall and the South West. The workshop is organised by CAST and hosted at Kestle Barton on the Lizard peninsula.

DESCRIPTION:Ane Hjort Guttu’s film Manifesto\, 2020\, (27 min) speculates on the aims and purposes of institutional art education. Newly migrated into a university and an open-plan campus building\, an art school feels cornered by a suffocating culture of surveillance and administration. Staff and students find ways to subvert control through secret operations. Drawing on her own experiences as an art teacher\, Ane Hjort Guttu explores what is lost when creativity is replaced by order and provides action plans for how to be the playful rebel. \nAne Hjort Guttu is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Oslo. She works across a range of media\, with a particular focus on text and moving images. Her practice explores the relationship between freedom and power\, how we navigate public space\, individual autonomy\, and the social\, economic\, and political conditions of art. \nFrom 13 to 20 March 2026 Ane Hjort Guttu will be leading the eighth Cornwall Workshop\, a weeklong intensive residential workshop for artists\, curators and writers based in Cornwall and the South West. The workshop is organised by CAST and hosted at Kestle Barton on the Lizard peninsula.

DESCRIPTION:4 week handbuilding course with Rosa Lily James \nOver four weeks\, attendees will work with ceramic artist Rosa Lily James with a focus on using hand building and surface decorating techniques to create one large pot each. \nYou will learn pinch\, coil and slab roll techniques. \nThis course will run once a week for two and half hours over a 4 week period; works will be bisque and glaze fired in our studio glaze before being available for collection from the studio. \nEach attendee will have up to 5 pots fired. \nWhat to bring? Please bring your own apron and towel to each session. All tools and materials will be provided. Wearing old clothes that can get mucky is advisable. \nCollection: Ceramic work will be ready 6 weeks after the final workshop to allow time for pieces to be glazed and fired. DESCRIPTION:The aim of the class is to come away with a well fitted trouser block. Having your own block is so useful and essential for making new patterns at home. We will be drafting the block from scratch from your measurements\, so please wear leggings so that we can get accurate measurements before we start. After we have drafted the block and added seam allowance\, we will make up a quick toile in calico to check the fit\, before making any adjustments on the pattern. Please note you will not have a finished pair of trousers to take home\, you will have a calico toile and pattern block. From your block you can then make pattern design alterations\, such as adding pockets\, adding a waistband or waist facing\, seam lines etc at home.

Meet Your Future Bandmates!\n \nYou can play your instrument. You’ve learned some songs. You practice in your bedroom. But have you ever played in an actual band?\nThis is your chance to meet other young musicians\, form a band\, learn a song together\, and perform it live—all in just five days. \nWhat Happens Over the 5 Days? \n DAY 1: Meet Your Band (Monday) \nFIRST: Get to know everyone through icebreakers and a casual jam session. We’ll figure out who plays what and at what level\, then split into bands\, duos\, or trios based on your skills and musical tastes. \nTHEN: Your band chooses a song YOU want to learn (within your genre—rock\, pop\, indie\, whatever your groove is). Start working on it together and getting the basics down. \nThis is where the magic starts—strangers become bandmates. \n DAY 2 & 3: Make It Sound Good (Tuesday & Wednesday) \nPRACTICE\, practice\, practice. Get your song tight and performance-ready with guidance and support throughout the day. You’ll work on: \n\nPlaying together as a unit\nTiming and dynamics\nBand communication\nMaking it sound polished\n\nIf your band nails the song early? Great—choose another one and keep the momentum going! \n DAY 4: The final push & rehearsal (Thursday) \nFIRST: Final rehearsal to polish your performance. \nTHEN: Sound check\, stage setup\, then it’s time to decide a running order and then it’s time to perform to the group. \n DAY 5: Show Time (Friday) \nFIRST: Final rehearsal to polish your performance. \nTHEN: Sound check\, stage setup\, the it’s time to do this for real! Play in your new band to parents and friends\, you decide who to invite. (Shows start at 11.30am & 2.30pm) \nFrom “nice to meet you” to “playing live together” in three fun sessions

SUMMARY:Make a Dress Block
DESCRIPTION:The aim of the course is to come away with a well fitted dress block (a basic dress pattern with fitted bodice\, pencil skirt and fitted sleeve). Having your own block is so useful and essential for making new patterns at home. \nPlease note\, we will not be drafting the block from scratch\, we will be amending a block to fit you. We will start by taking measurements and amending the pattern where possible first. Then you will make a toile of the dress in calico to fit. You will have a couple of fittings\, as we refine the fit of the garment in stages. These fitting techniques can be applied to any dress/top pattern that you use in future!
