DESCRIPTION:A mini retreat morning in a wood fired barn\, featuring yoga\, TRE & rest.\nWe’ll start our morning with a nourishing cup of warm cacao drink when you arrive. We’ll then ease into some gentle yoga to stretch your body\, ground your energy and clear your mind. After a small pause\, we’ll begin a TRE practice. TRE (or tension and trauma release exercises) is a gentle and holistic way to begin to unwind held patterns in the body by introducing a very natural and calming tremor response in the body. More on TRE on my website and below. \nLike a snow globe\, after our exercises and shake to stir things up a little\, we will have a long and guided savasana to settle our energy before ending\, as always\, with tea\, some yummy treats and time to chit chat if you’d like to\, or stay snuggled up in a blanket and be quiet. If it’s cooler\, the log fire will be on and the floor will be heated. \nAbout TRE \nTRE is a set of exercises that are designed to engender a natural tremor in the body. We use the tremors therapeutically to release muscle tension\, calm the nervous system and to bring the body and mind back into balance. It’s a very safe\, natural process that all mammals have the ability to do. The practice is about teaching the body to remember how to do it. DESCRIPTION:Remember Nature 2025 celebrates the 10th anniversary of an art project initiated in 2015 by the celebrated artist Gustav Metzger (1926–2017). On 4 November artists and arts organisations across the country will engage in a day of art action to stand up for nature\, in solidarity with Metzger’s hope and belief in the future power of art to halt universal extinction.\n \nOn the afternoon of 6 November the celebrated ‘walking artist’ Hamish Fulton will lead a group walk. The walk will take place in central Helston and will last for one hour\, participants should gather at CAST at 3.15pm. Hamish Fulton devised two such walks in Penzance as part of the Cornwall Workshop in 2013; documentation can be viewed here. Places for the walk are free but registration is essential. \nOn the evening of 6 November CAST will screen the eighteen short films made by artists commissioned for Remember Nature 2025: \nA Man Called Adam\, Ria Bagley\, Sofia Barton\, Youngsook Choi\, Patricia Domínguez Claro\, Tom Doubtfire\, Hamish Fulton\, Anya Gallaccio\, Paul Harfleet\, Laura Hopes\, Uta Kögelsberger\, Bernadette McBride\, Harun Morrison\, Eduardo Navarro\, Maddi Nicholson\, Nancy Odufona\, Cornelia Parker\, Yu-Chen Wang \nThe films run for a total of 45 minutes with screenings beginning at 4.30pm\, 5.15pm and 6pm. \nThis will be followed by an Artist’s Choice screening selected by Hamish Fulton\, who will introduce the documentary Bringing Tibet Home. Learn\, refresh and refine your throwing skills; you will explore how to make a variety of forms using a range of techniques and processes. \nThis course is for people who have had some previous experience on a wheel or none at all. \nEach attendee will have up to 5 pots fired. \nWhat to bring? All tools and materials will be provided. Wearing old clothes that can get mucky is advisable. Please bring your own apron and towel to each session. \nCollection: Ceramic work will be ready 4 weeks after the final workshop to allow time for pieces to be fired. Pots can be collected from the studio at CAST during Open Access Sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings 5:30pm – 8:30pm and Friday afternoons 1:30pm – 4:30pm. \n£240 includes tuition\, equipment\, materials and firing of 5 pieces.
