DESCRIPTION:On a single day in summer\, one acre of wildflower meadow can contain 3 million flowers\, producing 1kg of nectar sugar. That’s enough to support nearly 96\,000 honeybees per day. \n97% of species-rich grassland has been lost in the UK since the 1930s\, with the remaining 3% mostly fragmented across the country\, leaving little room for wildlife to spread. \nExplore how the National Trust and partners are tackling these issues\, through the Coastal Meadows project and the Lizard Rarities Project\, in this photography exhibition.

SUMMARY:William Wegman and Man Ray
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition brings together a selection of William Wegman’s wryly comedic single-take video works\, shot between 1972 and 1973\, with two longer works. Man Ray\, Man Ray\, 1978\, is a parody documentary in which the narrative slides humorously between biographical details relating to the Dada and Surrealist artist Man Ray and those belonging to Man Ray\, Wegman’s camera-loving Weimaraner dog. Around the Park\, 2007\, offers a deadpan observation of a full cast of Weimaraners taking on the roles of regular park goers and workers in Madison Square Park\, New York.\nIn his short films\, Wegman guides the viewer to look intently at the simplest actions and objects\, making often humorous connections that invite us to think differently about things. DESCRIPTION:Under the guidance of Finn Leaman\, this course runs once a week for two and half hours over a 7 week period with no class between week 5 and 6 to allow for the bisque firing of work ready to be glazed on the final session. Learn\, refresh and refine your throwing skills; you will explore how to make a variety of forms using a range of techniques and processes. \nThis course is for people who have had some previous experience on a wheel or none at all. \nEach attendee will have up to 5 pots fired. \nWhat to bring? All tools and materials will be provided. Wearing old clothes that can get mucky is advisable. Please bring your own apron and towel to each session. \nCollection: Ceramic work will be ready 4 weeks after the final workshop to allow time for pieces to be fired. Pots can be collected from the studio at CAST during Open Access Sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings 5:30pm – 8:30pm and Friday afternoons 1:30pm – 4:30pm. \n£240 includes tuition\, equipment\, materials and firing of 5 pieces.

DESCRIPTION:What is Man Down ??\nWe are here to help reduce the number of male suicides and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health by offering men the space to talk about their emotions. The main way we do this is by facilitating free-to-attend fortnightly informal talking group meetings held at locations all over the UK.\n\nWhat happens at Man Down Helston ??\nEvery two weeks on a Tuesday at 7pm we invite men to come along and talk about their mental health as part of a supportive talking group. By offering the chance to speak and listening to others\, together we break down the stigma associated with talking about our emotions. All attending agree to the sessions being a confidential\, non-judgemental and safe space to share. We also offer social meet ups and an online peer support group for those that have attended a face-to-face talking group meeting.

SUMMARY:TOGETHER WE FEAST
DESCRIPTION:Exploring functional wares and creating\, attendees will work with ceramic artist Rosa Lily James\, taking inspiration from celebration\, ritual and togetherness. \nYou will learn pinch\, coil and slab roll techniques to make wares for your future feasts. \nThis course will run once a week for two and half hours over a 4 week period; works will be bisque and glaze fired in our studio glaze before being available for collection from the studio. \nEach attendee will have up to 5 pots fired. \nWhat to bring? Please bring your own apron and towel to each session. All tools and materials will be provided. Wearing old clothes that can get mucky is advisable. \nCollection: Ceramic work will be ready 6 weeks after the final workshop to allow time for pieces to be glazed and fired. Pots can be collected from the studio at CAST during Open Access Sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings 5:30pm – 8:30pm and Friday afternoons 1:30pm – 4:30pm. \n£160 includes tuition\, equipment\, materials and firing of up to 5 pieces. \n  \nMinimum attendees 4.  If we do not reach this number we may need to cancel the class\, in which case you will be contacted three weeks before the start date. \n

DESCRIPTION:An evening of spoken word\, original songs and healing soundscape in Helston.  \n \nA collective of local artists\, sharing their sounds and voices with the intention of peace. Giving the many people in our own community who are struggling with the conflicts and divisions in the world a space to feel supported.  \n \nThe first hour will include poetry from Jos Hadfield and songs by Andy Wilson and Sadie Humble on harp and guitar. After the break Ali Gunning and Sadie will weave the vibrations of drums\, gongs\, flutes and other elemental instruments; creating a healing\, meditative sound journey to conclude the evening. \n \nAll proceeds are offered to Choose Love\, providing emergency humanitarian aid in Gaza. \n \nTickets include a piece of delicious cake and tea/ hot chocolate.
