Talk: ‘What Makes a Good (Cornish) Ghost Story?
Tuesday 29 October @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
In the run up to Halloween it seems a fitting time to think about telling ghost stories. We are thrilled that Marie Macneill, screen writer, senior lecturer at Falmouth University (Film and Television), and co-editor of the recent collection 13 Cornish Ghost Stories, has written a Helston ghost story for us.
Come and listen to Marie read the story and then join in a discussion about what makes a good ghost story – in particular a good Cornish ghost story. In Cornwall, we have the open moors with their swirling mists, the abandoned spaces underground and the rugged cliffs that snares ships. What else do we need to make a really good ghost story?
The talk will run for approximately 30 minutes. No advance booking is required for this event; it’s a drop-in session.
