Well\, if anybody can\, Squashbox Theatre can! \nJoin intrepid explorer Craig on a breathless race across the world\, as he attempts to decipher an ancient mystery – a mystery that could hold the key to our planet’s survival! \nIn Wonderful World we will traverse the globe\, visiting different countries\, encountering strange and wonderful creatures\, meeting crazy characters\, and learning incredible facts about planet Earth along the way. \nWonderful World is a brand-new show from Squashbox Theatre\, incorporating ingenious puppetry\, fantastic facts\, silly slapstick\, crazy comedy and marvellous live music – all presented in that unique Squashbox style! \nWonderful World – unmissable fun for children and adults of all ages! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat do I need to know?\n\nThis is a free event and no booking is required.\nThe run time is approximately 50 minutes.\nPlease bring your own chairs and/or blankets for this event. Seating is not provided.\nThis open-air event takes place in Events Square\, directly outside Lakeside Cafe at Coronation Park\, Helston\, TR13 0RA.\nOutdoor events will only be cancelled in extreme weather conditions\, so please bring a coat (but not an umbrella as it blocks the view of other audience members).\nThere is a small pay and display car park at Coronation Park as well as a larger car park at Castle Green. Free parking is available at the nearby Fairground car park.\nThere is level access to Coronation Park and Events Square. If you have any additional access needs that you’d like to discuss with us please email Guy on guy@cousinjacks.org.\nThere are accessible toilets at the rear of Lakeside Cafe.\nUnfortunately\, dogs are not permitted at ticketed events.

SUMMARY:Helston Water Carnival & Helston Town Band Fete!
DESCRIPTION:In 1912 when the Lower Green was flooded a Water Carnival was begun to encourage fun and frivolities on the newly created Boating Lake. The Water Carnival vanished from the town calendar perhaps almost a hundred years ago but as part of our ambition to bring more events and activities to Coronation Park we want to revive and reinvent it! \nTo try out the idea for a Water Carnival this year we’re coinciding it with the town band’s fete and the museum’s Cornish Fair on 20th July to make for a town-wide day of entertainment! \nWe want to hear from up-for-a-challenge\, lets-give-it-a-go\, more-than-a-little-competitive groups to create their own water-borne floats for our pedalo-powered Water Carnival Grand Parade. A top-notch team of judges will be called in to award the winning float a £100 and the enviable honour of leading the Grand Parade around the lake! \n#HelstonWaterCarnival IS BACK! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPractical information for groups who want to enter
\nHow many floats will there be?\nWe only have space for 9 floats (the number of rowing boats and pedalos we have to hand…) and groups will be invited to create a float on a first-come-first-served basis. \nWhat should we make?\nWe would like to see spectacular creative installations that can float on the Boating Lake. They will then be towed by the resident swan and flamingo pedalos\, and rowing boats\, for the Grand Parade. \nIs there a theme?\nWe aren’t setting a theme for the Grand Parade this year so the world is your oyster. \nWho pedals the pedalos and rows the boats towing the floats?\nIdeally each group will be pedal or row their own floats pedalo or boat. But if this isn’t possible for your group let us know. \nWhat if my float sinks or we get into trouble?\nThe boat crew from Naughty But Ice will be on hand to wade out and rescue floats and float creators – they’ll also help you to launch your float. \nIs there a limit on the size and weight?\nWe aren’t putting restrictions on the size or weight of the float but don’t forget you will need to pedal or row it around the lake! \nCan we be on the float?\nNot for this year. Everyone in your group must be either on dry land or on your pedalo or in your rowing boat. That doesn’t mean you can’t use ropes or bullies to create animation on your float\, they’ll just need to be operated from your pedalo or boat. \nWhat will happen on the day (20th July)?\nWe will ask you to bring your float to the Coronation Park between 8-10am. People transporting floats will be able to drive up to the lake. The Naughty But Ice boat crew will help you launch your float into the lake. Timings below are subject to change as the event is developed.\nAll floats must be in the water by 10am.\nFloats will be judged at 3pm.\nThe Grand Parade will launch at 4pm.\nFloats must be removed from Coronation Park between 6-8pm. \nWhat should I make the float out of?\nYour float can be made of anything you have to hand but it must be able to stay afloat and be able to be attached to a pedalo or rowing boat. We’ll work out fixings at a planning meeting together. \nWhat will be judged?\nJudges will be looking for the most spectacular and creative float design. Visitors to the park will also be able to judge entries and the “Helstonians Choice” award will be given to the float with the most visitor votes. \nHow much is it to enter?\nWe’re charging £10 per group – a bargain considering the £100 prize! \nAlright\, we’re ready to enter – what do we do?\nGreat!
