SUMMARY:Cooking up Cornish Stories
DESCRIPTION:Cooking up Cornish Stories (An introduction to Cornish Language) \nA Story Lab event \n7-9pm on 27th May \nThis event takes place at: The Emporium \nTickets from £5 \nJoin Cornish language teacher and Kegin Esther presenter Esther Johns for a warm and welcoming evening exploring the surprising connections between cooking\, storytelling\, and the Cornish language. This intimate gathering (limited to just 20 guests) offers a gentle and joyful introduction to Kernewek\, woven through the traditions that have always kept it alive: food shared around a table\, and tales passed from one generation to the next. \nThe evening will feature film clips of cookery and storytelling created with the Lizard-based LAFTA drama group\, bringing the language off the page and into vivid\, everyday life. Esther will guide you through what you’re hearing and seeing\, making Kernewek feel accessible\, alive\, and delicious. \nAnd speaking of delicious: Esther will provide some examples of traditional Cornish food for guests to try. \nWhether you’re a complete beginner curious about Cornwall’s living language\, or someone who simply loves good food and good stories\, you’ll leave with a little more Kernewek in your heart. \nBooking essential — places are limited.

SUMMARY:Writing a Memoir: Where Do I Start?

This stimulating workshop will give you impetus and encouragement and would be suitable either as a jumping-off point or as an injection of energy into an ongoing project. All welcome. \nCathy Rentzenbrink is an amiable bookworm\, a writer of fiction and non-fiction who chairs literary events and speaks on life\, death\, love\, and literature. Twice divorced\, she lives in Cornwall with her son and cat. \nShe has been extremely keen on Agatha Christie since she was nine years old and her next book The Agatha Christie Cure will be out in September. She is the author of the Sunday Times bestseller The Last Act of Love\, which was also shortlisted for the Welcome Book Prize.
