SUMMARY:Penrose social walks
DESCRIPTION:Everyone is welcome to join us for a gentle walk at Penrose\, as part of our social walk series. This walk starts at Highburrow car park near Porthleven and will take in views across Loe Bar and the surrounding countryside. The walk is approximately 3.5 miles long and will take around 2 hours. \nThe walks are led by volunteer walk leaders and offer the opportunity for anybody to spend time in nature and meet new people. Everyone is welcome\, of all abilities and experience\, and the walk leader will facilitate the walk to ensure everybody feels comfortable. \nChildren welcome\, adult supervision required at all times.\nThis walk will start at Highburrow car park (TR13 9EU or what3words///blockage.polo.coasted)\, meet at the NT welcome board.\nWear clothing suitable for all weather\, ideally layers with waterproofs and comfortable\, sturdy footwear.\nThis route includes uneven ground\, possibly steps and stiles. There toilet facilities at around the half way point at the Stables Café.\nDogs are welcome on leads.

DESCRIPTION:On a single day in summer\, one acre of wildflower meadow can contain 3 million flowers\, producing 1kg of nectar sugar. That’s enough to support nearly 96\,000 honeybees per day. \n97% of species-rich grassland has been lost in the UK since the 1930s\, with the remaining 3% mostly fragmented across the country\, leaving little room for wildlife to spread. \nExplore how the National Trust and partners are tackling these issues\, through the Coastal Meadows project and the Lizard Rarities Project\, in this photography exhibition.

DESCRIPTION:Paper making\, serpentine polishing\, woodworking\, clay\, tiny printing press\, large vegetable printing. \nLearn how to make your own plantable paper with seeds embedded\, create your own construction from wood\, or polish serpentine into a shiny pendant. You can also have a go on our tiny printing press or make an enormous vegetable print! \nDifferent activities are on offer at each CAST-Off session over the summer. Sessions will take place from 26 July to 23 August on Saturdays in the walled garden at National Trust Penrose – the what3words location for the walled garden is steepest.daydreams.boasted. There are also Lightbox sessions taking place at CAST on Tuesdays exploring techniques that underpin the processes of photography and moving image. \nAll the activities are free and offered on a drop-in basis\, no booking required. \nDonations to support this much-loved programme and enable it to keep running are always very welcome. \nParticipants of all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. \nWe won’t be put off by a bit of drizzle and hope you won’t either\, but check our social media on the day in case of extreme weather or last-minute changes. \nParking: \nWe recommend parking at the free Fairground car park in Helston and making your way along the footpaths to the walled garden. This route is tarmac all the way\, so well suited to pushchairs\, scooters\, and bikes. Please be aware the route is 2.4km / 1.5 miles\, with an approximate walk time of 45 minutes. \nFor those who need to get a little closer by car\, there is a small National Trust car park\, approximately 1km / 0.6 miles from the Walled Garden along the official paths. \nBus: \nIt is a 10 minute bus journey from Helston to Penrose on the U4\, which runs hourly between Falmouth and Penzance. Walk\, jog\, run\, volunteer or spectate – it’s up to you! \n\n\n\nWhen is it?\n\n\n\nEvery Saturday at 9:00am. \n\n\n\nWhere is it?\n\n\n\nThe event takes place at Penrose Estate\, Porthleven Road\, Helston\, Cornwall TR13 0RA. See Course page for more details. \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost to join in?\n\n\n\nNothing – it’s free! but please register before you first come along. Only ever register with parkrun once and don’t forget to bring a scannable copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it\, you won’t get a time. \n\n\n\nHow fast do I have to be?\n\n\n\nWe all take part for our own enjoyment.
