Festival: Animate Helston (15 – 22 Feb)
The Museum of Cornish Life, in partnership with Mor Media are once again bringing you a week-long celebration of animation during the February half-term thanks to funding from Arts Council England. This year, the festival focuses on the art of hand-drawn animation.
Exhibition: Early Animator Eddie RadageStep into the world of early animation and discover the remarkable work of Eddie Radage, father of one of our very own volunteers. Eddie worked on iconic films from Yellow Submarine to The Snowman.
Family Fun Workshops
Let your creativity shine at our FREE family-friendly workshops! These workshops are a fantastic way to explore different aspects of animation.
- Monday 17 February: Clay Model Making inspired by the iconic Morph 10.30am-12noon or
1-2.30pm - Tuesday 18 February: Create a Character Model Sheet with animator Keith Sparrow.10.30am-12noon or 1-2.
30pm - Wednesday 19 February: Build your own puppets and bring them to life! 10.30am-12noon or 1-2.
30pm Pop-Up Screenings at the Museum
Enjoy our FREE pop-up cinemas featuring a giant screen in the Drill Hall and additional screens in the schoolroom and toy shop. The screenings are curated by our fantastic partner, Mor Media, and showcase a variety of family-friendly animations
Feature Film at CAST
Our neighbours at CAST will also screen The Secret Life of Arritty. From the creators of Spirited Away and Ponyo, and Academy Award®-nominated* director Hiromasa Yonebayashi, comes a gorgeous and adventure-filled adaptation of The Borrowers, one of the most beloved children’s books of all time. Screenings run from 19 – 22 February at 10.30am and 1.30pm (90 min | Cert U)
Screening at Helston Old Chapel
