Walking From Helston
The countryside around Helston is an amazing area to explore. Walks to the nearby coast, around Loe Pool or deep into the valleys and hills which wrap around the town provide great views, abundant nature and glimpses of the ancient heritage of South West Cornwall.
This page lists some of the many walking trails available. Clicking the blue buttons will take you to route directions and more information about each walk.
For some routes we’ve used the ‘OutdoorActive’ app to provide guidance which can be accessed from your mobile ‘phone or downloaded from the website. There are also ‘Sound’ Walks created by the CAST team which guide you with written descriptions and audio links.
Over time we’ll add more routes to our website which will help you discover and enjoy the wonderful countryside around Helston.
Walks from Helston: the book
Walks from Helston maps out eight walking routes from our town into the surrounding countryside. The book hosts a variety of walks that explore ancient ways and quiet corners of the local landscape, with historic landmarks, diverse wildlife, and the varied habitats that make this part of West Cornwall so distinctive. Along the way, you will trace the source of the kennels that bring stream water through the town, or follow the footsteps of traders travelling between the port of Gweek and the Helston markets.
Researched, written and photographed by Ollie Smith and designed by Amy Morgan, the book was commissioned by Helston Place Shaping Board and is published by Helston Community Interest Company.
