Talk: Farmer’s Will Like It – Early History of the Museum

Tuesday 25 February, 2pm

When the museum opened in Helston’s old Butter and Egg Market in 1949, the newspapers hailed that “farmers will like it.” In this talk, Dr. Tehmina Goskar, Research Curator at the museum, will tell the story of how there came to be a museum in Helston, who made it happen and how the collection was first put together. She will explore why farming was at the heart of this new mid-century museum and how it remains relevant today.

The talk will last approximately 30 minutes, followed by a Q&A session. No advance booking is required; it is a drop-in session.
