Helston’s Christmas season officially starts on the last Friday of November with the switching on of the Christmas Lights. The lights are strung across the main streets and are well-known as one of the best displays in Cornwall.

Switch-on night has a real party atmosphere, attracting crowds to enjoy the evening market, with stalls selling everything from jewellery to mulled wine, visit Father Christmas in his grotto and listen to Helston Town Band, who play leading up to the countdown.

A music stage hosts a variety of acts and a fantastic firework display makes the  evening go with a bang.

As well as the Lights Switch On, there’s also a Lantern Parade and a Santa Fun Run around Helston later in December.
