Helston Picnic Pride is an annual celebration held at Coronation Park, bringing together the whole community for an afternoon of live music, free crafting, local performances and support groups by the lake. Organised by Helston Town Council in partnership with South Kerrier Alliance, the event began in 2024 after young Helstonians spoke to the Town Council about not always feeling safe being themselves in the town they call home. Those conversations led to the creation of Helston Picnic Pride, now a joyful fixture in the town’s calendar.
The event is a true open invitation, welcoming the LGBTQIA+ community, allies, families and anyone looking for a relaxed afternoon out. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic, blanket or chairs and settle in by the lake, with Lakeside Cafe open throughout serving hot and cold drinks, ice creams, cakes and family-friendly meals. It’s a free, all-ages event with no booking required, just an afternoon of music, creativity and community spirit in one of Helston’s loveliest outdoor settings.
In 2026, Helston Town Council will also began the Pride flag throughout June, reflecting the town’s commitment to making sure everyone feels safe, welcome and able to be themselves in Helston.
