Remembrance Day Parade
All branches of the military are represented, alongside local uniformed organisations, in Helston’s impressive annual Remembrance Parade in November.
And, of course, there’s a contingent from HMS Seahawk/RNAS Culdrose, the Royal Navy airbase just outside Helston.
The parade is followed by a Service of Remembrance in St Michael’s Church with the traditional reading of the names on the War Memorial. This now includes new names recently identified by the World War One Heritage group and added to the memorial.
After the service the parade proceeds to the Memorial Garden by Grylls Monument. Here a short service is held, with a moment’s silence at 11am, followed by a wreath laying, hymns and prayers.
