Despite not having an official Christmas lights switch-on, some Helston businesses have made great efforts to decorate their windows for Christmas and have certainly played their part in helping make the town look festive and welcoming. This is an important part of Christmas but all year round we can appreciate the role of windows in a healthy High Street. This is the fourth year that the Helston Community Interest Company has run a Christmaswindow competition and again, it was a difficult decision. After much discussion and many cups of coffee, thewinner’s trophy was awarded to Melinda King, Manager of the Fishermen’s Mission
by the Mayor, Tim Gratton-Kane; Raison Opticians were second; and Jenkin’s Sweet Shop third.

Tim Gratton-Kane said “ I was delighted to present certificates and a cup to the winners of the Christmas shop window competition. The high standard of all the shops that entered made it a challenge for the judges to select the winners. It is the efforts of all those who entered make Helston such a charming placeto visit. The illuminated displays continue that magical feeling into the evenings. I hope that next year evenmore businesses will enter.”
