Helston is full of historic corners, stories and wonderful heritage! This is an idea for a day exploring everything Historic Helston.
Morning
Walk the ‘Heston Heritage Trail’. This tour will take you around some of the key sites but really only scratches the surface of Helston’s fascinating history. Pick up a copy of the Heritage Trail leaflet from the starting point at The Guildhall or call in to the Museum of Cornish Life for a leaflet and, in summertime, a guided tour of the town.
Lunch
Head to CAST Cafe to enjoy lunch in an historic building with wonderful views over the town. Built in 1897, CAST (Cornubian Arts and Science Trust) Cornwall acquired the historic Passmore Edwards building in 2012 and now provides studios for some twenty artists and accommodates a wide-ranging programme of events and activities.
Afternoon
Spend the afternoon at the Museum of Cornish Life, and explore it’s wonderful collection of artefacts for a glimpse into the life in years gone by. Be sure to check their opening hours before your visit.
End of the day
End the day with a pint of ‘Spingo Ale’ at The Blue Anchor, one of Cornwalls oldest pubs and the only brewing pub in Cornwall. Be sure to take a look at the curiosities on the wall and ask the bartender if they’re experienced any of the hauntings said to frequent the pub!
