Coronavirus help in Helston
Coronovirus is changing the way we’re all living our lives.
From what to do if you need help with your shopping to tips for isolation takeaways here are some tips for dealing with lockdown in Helston.
How to get help
The Helston Community Response Team, backed by Helston Town Council, is there to provide assistance to anyone finding themselves in need, having first looked to family, friends and neighbours for help. If you’re self-isolating and need help with anything such as getting shopping or delivery of medicines, then call 01326 565761. The helpline is staffed 0900-1700 every day of the week, including weekends.
The group have over 300 volunteers in and around Helston and hope to reach 400. To volunteer, complete the online registration form which can be found on the front page of the Helston Town Council website http://www.helston-tc.gov.uk/Home_1.aspx

Shopping
You can leave your home to buy essential supplies like food and as well as the larger supermarkets in Helston, other local food shops including Scorse Foods and Mrs K’s Fruit and Veg remain open for a delivery service. Helston Post Office is currently still operating on restricted opening hours. Vicky’s Bread also remains open and are taking orders.
Takeaway food

Ann’s Pasties also offer a nationwide home delivery service and Domino’s Pizza is still taking online orders for delivery from 12:00 until 21:00.
Exercise
At the time of writing we can leave our houses once a day to exercise. Penrose and Coronation Park remain open but you need to observe social distancing and keep at least 2m between yourself and others. Car parks have been closed. The skate park and playgrounds at Coronation Park are also closed, in accordance with government guidance.
Events & attractions
Gatherings of more than two people are not allowed under the government’s coronavirus lockdown. This sadly means that many local events have been cancelled, including Flora Day on May 8th. For latest details it’s best to check directly with the event or attraction you’re interested in.
